Someone needs to pick up the ball.

What do you do when the Church is suddenly perceived as the enemy?

Church attenders now make up the minority in America. For the first time since Gallup has been crunching numbers, less than 50% of Americans attend church (47%, to be exact). And, of those who attended church prior to the pandemic, 33% have simply stopped. But it’s worse than that. We’ve now been framed as a threat that must be eradicated.

Actually, that shouldn’t surprise anyone. While media platforms have grown exponentially, consistently declaring the Christian faith as public enemy number one, local church stages are increasingly losing their audience.

So, how did things change so quickly? How did the most hope-filled message of all time somehow become the great omission? We can all find something to blame, but finger-pointing is predictably futile. Someone needs to simply pick up the ball, because the clock is ticking. We believe it’s become time to recalibrate our view of what it means to be part of Christ’s Church and reclaim our place as salt and light in a dark and decaying culture.

The Oikos Movement is not a new idea, but launching it as a stand-alone non-profit organization is a brand new venture. We’ve already assembled a team of Christian leaders who share the same vision. We’re already working with other pastors and business leaders, providing them effective and affordable training tools and resources that have brought both focus and fuel to their personal lives and a new dynamic to the local churches they attend. We are praying that, over the next ten years, the oikos principle will become a game-changing ingredient that will energize literally tens of thousands of other churches around the world to pick up the ball and reclaim the Great Commission as their mission.

Right now, we are in the process of outlining the steps required to make that happen. We can already offer you an array of training resources that will better acclimate you to the idea of oikos. But, as you revisit oikosmovement.com in the days ahead, you’ll notice new opportunities, new resources, new conversations, even new functionality to this site itself. It’s our desire to provide whatever you or your church family might need to experience the power of world change and fulfill your purpose in the world.

Perhaps you too are saddened that the Great Commission has become lost in the morass of trendy church programs. Maybe you even attend a church that’s fumbled its focus on the Gospel. We hope you’ll, at the very least, pray for this new endeavor. But maybe you’ve personally experienced the power of the oikos principle enough that you’d consider making The OM part of your regular giving strategies.

We believe God is calling a group of people to put prayer and resources behind an intentional strategy to accomplish the greatest initiative in human history, the redemption of humanity. We promise that your tax-deductible donations will be handled with prayer, integrity, and competence.

Thank you for your consideration! We look forward to seeing people give their lives to Christ because we made every effort to better equip the Church for her mission.

Rules might change from sport to sport, but at least one thing is true for all of them. You can’t score without the ball.
